Wonderful Words: Introducing Preschoolers to Sophisticated Vocabulary Through Read-Aloud Experiences

Event Description

Vocabulary, a critical component to the development of language and literacy in young children, is also linked to the accumulation of content knowledge and comprehension across curricular domains.  Mere exposure to new vocabulary, however, is not enough to expand a child's repetoire.  In this training, teachers will learn about the appropriateness of sophisticated vocabulary in the preschool setting and plan interactive read-alouds to support the acquisition of Tier 2 and 3 words.
