Devereux Early Childhood Assessment is a two day training focusing on the understanding and implementation of the DECA assessment. This training is required for the Early Childhood Mental Health Credential.
This is day one. You must attend both days for credit.

Identify the rationale used for the implementation of the DECA and how it supports areas of social/emotional development.
Idenitfy ways to implement the assessment for teachers to utlize to best meet the social emotional needs of the child.
Identify appropriate observation techniques and appropriate conversations with families and early learning professionals in pursuit of social emotional supports for children.
Appropriately indicate to families the nature of the assessment, the ways the assessment will be utilized, and why it is valuable for the child, family, and early learning professional.
Identify strengths based perspectives to help parents and teachers see a child's strengths rather than focusing on challenges.
Identify the importance of social emotional well being in children, how it helps with future success, how it can be supported individually and with the classroom. Identify ways to pass this information along to others.
Identify ways to plan and implement strategies based on the DECA scores to assist children in the development of social emotional skills.
Identify the areas on the assessment where the child needs additional supports and utilize the Devereux strategies to add to supports.
