Student will be able to recognize the need for emergency action, determine the need for CPR and perform the steps needed to resuscitate victims of all ages in the out of hospital setting using Chest Compressions and Rescue Breathing techniques
Student will be able to identify the clinical signs of a choking or foreign body airway obstruction emergency and act appropriately to dislodge the item using proven techniques on all age groups both conscious and unconscious victims. Encompasses Adult, Infant, and Child.
Student will understand the science behind the Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED), Be able to identify the need for use in the unconscious pulseless and apneic patient, Student will understand the proper application of the device including safety procedures for rescuers and victims. Students will understand special circumstances and recognition of these problems as well as how to handle the situation as prescribed by the AHA guidelines
Student will be able to recognize the need for emergency action, determine the need for Basic First Aid and perform the steps needed to provide care for victims of all ages in the out of hospital setting using basic first aid skills for traumatic injury type emergencies
Student will be able to recognize the need for emergency action, determine the need for Basic First Aid and perform the steps needed to provide care for victims of all ages in the out of hospital setting using basic first aid skills for medical emergencies
Objective 6. 45 Minutes
Learner Objective:
Student will be placed into scenario based mock emergencies with other students as first aid teams. Student will perform learned skills, using first aid equipment. After mitigation of the mock emergency a review of the positive and negative implications of treatments.
